I first visited Utazi some years back when they were in their old site. The food at that time was amazing and I was really disappointed when I returned there a few weeks later to find out that they were no longer there. To my utmost delight, I reconnected with them again yesterday, and I was reminded of why I fell in love with their meals before. The food was breathtakingly delicious and it was timely as well. I had the seafood okro with poundo yam, yummy! The ambience was just right as it affects you the right amount of privacy without necessarily alienating you from other diners.
First of all, as my fiance and I arrived, I was shocked. I thought it was one random place hes been wanting to bring me to. The ambience is relaxing. It has this privacy touch even though the space is open. The waiter was a pleasant soul. Smiling for no reason and very patient. When the food came, we were in a hurry to go out. So we paid and asked that it be kept till we return later. Ill update after I eat.Be ready to WAIT for your food sha.The portions are enormous. Nope, you cant finish the soup at once if youre not a hoodlum (kidding). The music is great at the proper volume. It doesnt interfere with discussions. Sea food okro, native soup and assorted protein, garri and water... Damage was 14k. But we had enough soup to take away and eat two more times each.By the way, the manager Obinna was super helpful. He even offered to serve us.
The ambience and food is great! The food is freshly prepared and ingredients are of high quality. I enjoyed the smaller details - like the pretty plates, cutlery and general attention to design and decor. If you want delicious Nigerian and intercontinental food or just drinks, this is a great place to hang out!
Oh, the atama soup with bitterleaf was heavenly... And the portion was on another level. Will recommend for anyone in lagos and looking for freshly made soup
This is a very good restaurant. Their food is very nice, they have varieties and their customer service is on point. Restaurant is highly recommended. All the food we ordered were delicious. Their price is also very much ok.
Great food. Best for local african foods, not tried the Continental dishes. They make plantain just the way I like it. Thick and golden brown. The service staff can be a little absent minded. Asides that, all seems well. Great ambience.
I had such an amazing time at Utazi. I have returned over and over and recommended friends. Its the perfect place for a quiet dinner or a first date. Food is amazing, service is efficient and atmosphere is calm. They also have gorgeous art decor youll love.
I don’t see a reason il be spending 25,000+ on food and still end up in the hospital for food poisoning. Definitely never returning here again.
The Abacha is my absolute fave!
They are a joke. Everything I ordered was not available. After the waiter came back the 3rd time to tell me my 3rd option is also not available I had to take my leave. And the Cosmopolitan they served tasted like cranberry juice and water. My experience was horrible to say the least.
Lovely food, but they were no napkins. This was really sad giving that they sell swallow and napkins are very important to avoid stains. There was also no hand wash in the whole restaurant (in a pandemic), I mean not even the restroom had a hand wash. The food was tasty tho.
Theres a welcome drum for first timers. The shrimp fried rice is da bomb!Well-lit downstairs but if you want the bar or a cozy corner for your date, you should go up the stairs. It was a memorable evening.
I thoroughly enjoyed the sea food okro, had a very natural taste but the ambience was just okay, nothing spectacular. Decently priced food.
The atmosphere is very lovely. The place is beautiful, lots of lovely areas to take pictures. The attendants were really attentive and ready to assist. The food, delicious. And their prices arent even ridiculous, its very affordable.
It was a 10/10 experience. Judith was a very pleasant waitress. Native soup slaps hard.
This is a lovely restaurant that has a mix of Nigerian and American in their menu, they are more of Nigerian though.Their soups are so rich and delicious. They have a bar on the first floor. The restaurant also host a group lunch or dinner date.Their ambience is spanking clean.
Quite a cool nd nice place . That was my first visit. The meal is tasty nd environ is ideal
Food is really good. Well organised and I liked the service rendered. Food took like 30mins and it quite affordable
Wonderful meal.. the best in Lagos
Food was delicious, ambience was great, waiters were courteous, prices were very very friendly.
The ambience was great and I loved the serenity. I only hope that next time, it wouldnt take up to 2 hours for food to be served
Best place for South East and South South dishes in Nigeria. Banga is banging. Seafood also looks nice. Generous portions and quite affordable.
The native soup was awesome 😊😁
Very good food and decent service. Seating is available both upstairs and downstairs. Bar seating, booths and regular tables are available. Parking is limited - the parking lot can take about eight cars, but street parking is available. Definitely worth it for a taste of Nigerian food.
The dishes were great and we had value for money. The environment is pristine. The waiters are ladies and gentlemen.
Loved it. The seafood okra soup is to die for. Local native food at its absolute finest.
Utazi is a place to visit. It’s a cozy restaurant and the meal is tasty and affordable.
Very good quality food. Humongous portions. Worth the price and visit
Food was goooood. However, you may need to be insistent to get service.
Beautiful place. Wonderful ambience. Courteous staff. 100%
Enjoyed the dish I had (Seafood Melange 2.5) with Àmàlà and okro. Was quite a healthy amount! Would definitely recommend you try it out if you enjoy Nigerian dishes in generous sizes and affordable prices (given the location).
Nice food good service.I loved the pounded yam. The real stuff not the mix
Serene atmosphere, courteous attendants, delicious food. We got more value for less pay.
Local and continental dishes available at affordable rates.
Great food. Great service
Had a splendid time. All food taste original and top quality.
I always eat here. I love the environment
The food is great and the ambience is just right. The service is great as well with well appointed and clean bathrooms. Highly recommended..
Nice and cosy. Food took some time but I guess because its made fresh.
My meal was delayed for about 1 hour, 45mins. Also the pasta was not well made. It was so strong that I could barely eat. The setting is okay though. Its also expensive...
I love that fact that everything is freshly cooked while you wait. The sweet potato, steamed veggies and peppered goat meat meal was really good. The Ugba meal with croaker fish 😍 and the seafood pasta was lovely. Had to taste it all.Didnt get to taste any cocktails their bar isnt open on Sundays 🙄 but otherwise had a great time.Good food, great value. - 2018 reviewThe last time I visited Utazi was in 2018 in a smaller space.Since then, Utazi has gotten a major facelift, and is now one of the few restaurants in Lagos that gives you beautiful decor/interior and good food. They have different spaces for different vibes from cosy indoor, to intimate to diner feel etc. They also have two outdoor sitting areas, a bigger one downstairs by the car park and a small one on the balcony upstairs which doubles as a smoke area. Its great that they now have a car park, parking used to be ridiculous at the other spot.Their meals are still as amazing but a little warning; I beg you dont go to Utazi with an empty stomach, dont do it. Make sure your stomach can take you though the 45mins - 1hr or more waiting time for the food. Infact just estimate 1hr30mins to wait depending on what you order.I have no idea why their meals take so long, but they come and you totally forget that you were upset because of how good it is.Its a good place for a date though, the waiting time gives you more talk time.I however have a problem with their cocktails. You can barely taste the alcohol in it when they make it. Literally had to ask for them to bring me gin in a different glass and tonic in another so I could mix it myself, only then could I taste the gin in the tonic. My friends who had other cocktails had the same complaints.Their toilets are clean and theres a full length mirror in the walkway to check yourself out or take a mirror selfie or two if thats your thing.Love the African infusion in the decor and they have a talking drum from first timers 😁Their customer service is beautiful.Had a bridal shower here and it was amazing, they helped us set up (we had to do the party decor ourselves but they helped with every other thing), told us when the bride arrived and help lead her to the surprise. They kept checking in to make sure we were good and things were going well.P.s. You dont have to break the bank to eat here. You could literally have a meal and a drink with 3000 naira or less if you skip the protein (just get the chicken fried rice).Items on their menu go from about 1,500 to 17,000 per item but they sometimes dont have the things on their menu 🤦🏽♀️ which is another problemOverall is was a good experience, I can say Im proud of their growth.
It was a beautiful ambience and great food. I will be going back
Very neat and tidy ... food is served hot , u can get all types of African dishes
Lovely ambience and highly professional waiters
A nice place to chill out, and they are specialist in freshly made African dishes.
It was a nice experience. Good food, beautiful interiors.
The service was great. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the difference between seafood okro and fishermans soup. He tried to convince me to try the atama soup..but naaah! NIce try..love well trained staff!!

Authentic Nigerian Restaurant. Food is really good
So this was the best traditional Nigerian food I had on this whole trip in Lagos.
Excellent environment and great food.Worth the price!
Best Ofe Owerri in Lekki.
Stellar service. Good food
Elegant and class all combined. Good local dishes you would feel at home with.
Great food. Impeccable ambiance. Utazi has it all
Fed me spoiled calamari in their seafood pasta. Dont bother.
Food is very good and the quantity is worth the price
Food of life 😁 meal just like home cooking
It was a nice experience

For your best traditional cuisine, ambience perfect. Ideal for end of year parties, lunch and dinner date
Great ambience, delicious & original local food.. the sea food okro soup is amaaaaaaazing. They should just make sure the quality remains the same for years to come.
Service is quite slow so best to place order early
This is One of the best afang soup I had lately, infact I was so impressed and wished they had a Branch at Ikeja, lol
Chilled environment, good food and great service
Refreshingly ok.
Very horrible service. Waited for 30 mins for someone to attend to me. Only for them to come out and tell me theres no food left and walk away. Horrible service.
Serene atmosphere and good service with tasty food and affordable drinks
