Awolowo Hall Block 1 has a total of Thirty (30) rooms, Ten (10) on each of the 3 floors namely the Ground floor, fist floor and the second floor. Block 1 shares an attic with Block 2. Block 1 is really a nice place to stay, sited very close to the Awolowo Hall buttery, Awolowo Hall Common room and the Barbers shop.

Awolowo Hall is remarkably the most populated hostel in Obafemi Awolowo University with a maximum capacity of 2,032 legal occupants (students). It was built in the year 1970. It was named Awolowo Hall in 1972/73. It has motto as castle of great men. The block/hostel lack maintenance and require urgent renovation
