I would definitely recommend this place for the following reasons- the portion of the food is a lot compared to what is charged for it. I kept eating and eating and even had to take some away ππ½-the food is quite rich and tasty-attention was paid to the decoration details and the scenery- the staff are courteous-food and drinks came on time, you donβt have to wait too long to be served- the concept of the place is very unique- most importantly, itβs very affordableCons-Although, it might be a little bit difficult to locate if you use google maps because it directs you through a blocked route but you should be able to get the place if you ask around.-Also, I felt the Palm wine was diluted but I could understand it was to meet business needs.-We had the problem of flies, it could be because we went during the day time thoughOverall you should visit there.
Amazing place - thatched roofs - gives the feeling of sitting in the village but itβs in the middle of Abuja city. Excellent selection of traditional Nigerian food - nkwobi, abacha and ugba. Service is great. My favorite is the palm wine served with artistic wooden mugs. Definitely delivers way greater value than what they charge for all of it.
Village chief offers what a few places in Central FCT have to offer: local themed meals. The palm oil rice is on point and the meals are lovely. The staff are courteous and the location is ambient. The prices are relatively fair also given the location in town.Id recommend this place anytime. Its ambient and a cool garden to relax and unwind at.
A 3 star rating because the palm wine isnβt fresh and the taste is terrible, the food took long (I really thought it was being made fresh or something) it came out stale and had a totally different from what it should taste like. I wasnβt impressed at all.P.s. Made more videos than I took pictures. I was there for a reunion kinda.
A very cool restaurant to have some sumptuous meals with a touch of local settings. Their palm wine is top notch as well
Update 19/09/2021: OK, weve been back 3 times since now. The service is never great, but the food is always good and the bill is accurate. Its starting to grow on me. Realized my original post was harsh because of the really bad service and clientelle that first night so Ive calmed it down. Nigeria needs to work on its customer service in general but the food cant be beaten.β==ββ======Food was ok. Service was terrible. The flavor of the food was good, but small quantity fluffed up to look larger. The waitresses are all pretty, so its a good place to look at pretty women, hang out with friends and eat a sampling of real Nigerian foods. Our waitress Kaduna did an awesome job, but anyone else we interacted with ignored our requests and/or failed to notify her.
Have nice tasty food. Especially their Village Rice. But orders take a while to be delivered but its worth the wait anyways
Lovely outdoor spot with very good food and drinks fairly priced. Food is served locally with leaves, calabash bowls and palm wine served with calabash too. Really cool sight to behold. Only downside would be the mosquitoes which is common in outdoor spots in Abuja. Sitting in the enclosed is a remedy to this though
Music is not loud. Gives you room to have solid conversations. Gives you the village vibe with palmwine served the traditional way. Rice served on banana leaf. Soft spot close to Transcorp
The village theme is well executed, with earthen dishes, calabash, moin-moin leaves, the whole shebang. The food was delicious, rich, local and authentic. Price was not too exorbitant. Overall, I have no reservation in recommending the Village Chief. Try the Village (Jollof) Rice.
Maybe ask customer if theyll like the food spicy or not
You want great taste and a village feeling, that where youβll get it
While this place may not be as beautiful as it was showcased in social media, but its a good place to hangout with friends. It has garden-like arrangement with both indoor and outdoor sitting options. The ambience is just ok, but look better ar night when all the light effect comes out better. The furnitures are basic wooden chairs on the outdoor.Customer service is great and it took about 20mins to have our order fulfilled. The meals were very delicious and Prices are moderate. I will advice you try out the Village rice and peppered Guinea fowl.
Lovely ambience and food prices are reasonable, slow service though.
Nice, stripped down ambience. Food was good and prices pocket friendly. Staff were courteous. Lots of traffic but did not feel overwhelming. Nice place for a conversation with friends.
Always a lovely experience with their village rice and guinea fowl! Thank me there for giving you my secret dishπThe ambiance is just calm but can be improved to be more eye catchingπAlso their service time is long for me, please you guys should work on a faster service. Salivating an hour plus before getting an order is no joy.
Great-tasting food, enough waiters to meet everyones needs on time. Pretty hard to locate, but once you know where it is, youre good.
Menu delicious and affordable! Ambience not so bad, ample parking lot, customer service needs to be worked on.Good place for reunion, get together, not too serious meetings.
It really has a lovely Ambience; village type setting with the bamboo sticks, wooden chairs, food served in calabash, palm wine served in its traditional jar.The food is always served in a leaf and the leaf placed in a wood-like plate.Their food is very good and they have a wide variety of dishes; here you can get good bush meat, bole, chips and local dishes. If you dont like the smell of alcohol and cigarettes, then this may not be a very conducive place for you as people are allowed to smoke here. Its a semi open air space and during a directional rain fall, its not very much fun.The parking space isnt so much and the driveway to this place is very narrow. Another turn off is the beggerly attitude of the security guys that guide you to park; its not the best.
Village chief restaurant is a nice place to grab a bite. The service is slow and the food wont get to you until after about a 45 minute wait. The bush meat is not bush meat. We drew the attention of the staff to look closely at the meat which looks like cat.The place does look like a village and it has a nice aesthetic to it. The environment also stinks so bad.
A very serene environment, love the atmosphere and services. Top notch, the palmwine is not badπ
They have decent tasting food but they have a huge problem with customer service , took a while for me to even see the menu let alone see what I ordered, went there hungry and ended up having a migraine before my food was served, a d I think its cause of how short staffed they are, other than that the place has great potential if the pay more attention to how they serve their customers
Zero customer service, my partner and I sat for minutes before an attendant took our order. When someone finally did, I requested a plate of village rice and turkey while my partner ordered bush meat, the waitress who took our order confirmed it, asked if I wanted my turkey diced, and I responded by saying Yes however, my food was served without dicing the turkey as requested.
Awesome experience ππΎ π ππΎ ππΎ
Its a really wonderful place for palmwine and some local cuisine. They will treat you and your guests well.
One of the things I love about the village chief restaurant is how they have been able to infuse the village and urban setting together. The parking spaceI donβt know how people miss that, itβs very important to have a space for your guest to park and this people did very excellent in that aspect. The MenuIf you miss the village food, the aroma, the leaf π, I wonder if the meals are made with clay pot because it taste like the real village food.Best time to visitThe best time to visit is in the evening. You will appreciate the decor and the lights. Very chill.
Local joint of palm wine with variety of african Manu.
Very cool hangout. A blend of local and modern concept
Beautiful outdoor restaurant. Very good food I must add.
For starters, if you have a problem with flies, Id suggest you dont sit inside. Find a way to get yourself and your meal outside.Plus, keep an open mind when you order your meal because theres the possibility youd get Jollof rice when you order for village rice just like I did.And if you have Miss Rachel serving your table, please pay attention to what you pay for because shell try to make your pay for what you ordered and didnt get.PS, you dont need to sprinkle sesame seed on your proteins. It doesnt make the plating any more appealing and not everyone is a fan of sesame seed.
Started early with some friends. Most of the food on the menu was not available cause the cook was yet to comeπππhad few staff at hand initially, however the place picked up and the staff responded positively. Had the palm wine off a calabash and the food came on leaves. Using the Google Map, it was a bit difficult locating the place. Parking is available though not sooo much. Overall, I could come back
HmmmmmmmmWow o wow. Palm wine was divine and so where the African meals
African themed restaurant. The menu is reflective of the theme. Nice palmwine and other African delicacies. This experience is one I wont forget soon. Yummy all the way.
The best thing about Village Chief for me is the quality of the food. You would be hard pressed to find food of better quality, even in higher priced restaurants. On the other hand, the service is a bit slow, so dont go there if you want to get your food in less than 15 minutes. One person can eat really well on a budget of 3k-5k.
The roads network was a bit poor but its manageable
Good food. Its just more of a garden than restaurant vibe.
Looking for a cool atmosphere and wants everything in a local way....just walk in here.... Their palmwine nah top notch. Their red oil palm oil rice is also wow
Improve your staff quality and efficiency
Are you looking for palmwine in calabash? Village Chief is where you can find it.Try the tasty village rice served with goat π meat and palm wine
One of the best sit outs in Abuja. Very affordable with variety of options. I love this place
Great customer service, needs to upgrade furnitures for a better & comfortable setting
Nice place and good ambience with lovely delicacies
Very nice ambience and concept. Good food , quite original African environment, and fairly good service too. Can be a bit pricy sometimes though.
Car park not up for review so I will pass. Food for the price well emm. Ambience now thats spot on music not to loud you can hear your self.. lighting is warm and nice
Amazing food. Great ambience. I love it. However, when they have a lot of customers, services get delayed
I love the ambience and the delicious meals. You sure have me visiting again!
Very African. Love the environment.
Nice. They serve some local dishes like nkwobi with palm wine, but they do not serve regular local dishes like swallow and soups. Asides that, I think they are ok
Nice place to hang out with delicious meal.
A very cultural outdoor location for relaxation and get-together.
Nice restaurant, the native jollof rice stood out for me
Native rice and palmwine are goodBushmeat could have been softer
Nice food.. loved their long island... just as strong as I like it
Coded restaurant with highly secured dss men on guard
Nice setting, with real village presentation of food but took so long to be served
The pepper in the asun can be something else, then the jollof rice was half cooked.Asides that it was a lovely experience ,cozy , serene environment for an evening hangout with friends
Its a nice place.
We had isi Ewu, village rice and snails. The village rice was not as seasoned as it should be, the isi Ewu was alright, I liked the snails though, it had a delicious sauce. All in all, it was okay. 5 and a half
You will love their Village rice , peppered goat meat and guinea fowl.
Excellent place for relaxation. Good food.
I really enjoyed hanging out here. Great place to be with friends
Beautiful environment, friendly and efficient waiters. Good service, lovely food
It was a delightful place but the food came a bit late.
The Village Chief has a nice fusion of contemporary and ethnic style. I found it interesting that food was served in calabashes and laid on banana leaves, and this traditional touch was unique. The woodwork and craftsmanship is a homage to out ethnicity so If you are into that, youll appreciate the ambience.
Great place to eat Bush meat and drink plamwine
They are not consistent with their food taste. I had lunch yesterday and honestly it was not great at all. Currently having tummy ache. Not a place to visit again.Village chef restaurant kindly work on your services.
