Profile of Umuzike Autonomous Community:Great people Great CommunityUMUZIKE is an autonomous community located within Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State. Its actual location is depicted as been on longitude 7.02E of Greenwich meridian and Latitude 5.47N of the Equator. Legend has it that its ancestor Ezike, was originally the first son of Achi from which it shares common links with other towns that make up the Ebejiachiasaa Clan of the Isu nation. It is bounded on the East by Umudioka Ancient Kindom, on the West by Umuowa, on the North by Eziachi and on the South by Amucha. On its North-West is Owerri-Ebeiri whilst on its North-East, South-East and South-West it is bounded by Eziach and Umuowa respectively.Umuzike is made up of eight Villages: namely, Umuokwe, Umuogiri, Umuezurike, Umuezeoma, Umuegbe, Umulolo, Umunkwo and Umuokwaraji. Its people are peaceful, industrious and highly nationalistic and motivated. like most Igbo societies, it shares in the values embedded in the traditional four market days with its market being Orie market hence the aphorism, Orie Umuzike. Its religion is deeply rooted in the worship of the Supreme being Chukwu or Chineke. Hence the prevalent religion is Christianity. Though freedom of worship is allowed in the community.Its major cultural festivals include the following: Okonko, Okorosha, Ekeleke and Udu festivals, etcIt has produced great men and women who have in various ways contributed immensely to the development of the community. the Ebejiachiasaa clan, the Isu nation, the Orlu Local Government Council, Imo State and Nigeria as a whole. Some of these great men and women include Professos, Distinguished Lawyers, Academics, Doctors, Accountants, Aviators, Teachers, Priests and accomplished businessmen etc. Given the industry and erudition associated with us, many of our sons and daughters are quietly but firmly contributing their quotas to the development of the community and society at large.It cannot be gainsaid that in the course of our historical evolution as a people, we have had our fair share of challenges, developmental and otherwise. Whilst we have used our industry and erudition to solve some of these challenges, others remain daunting and will require the corporate might of the various levels of Government to surmount. Among the daunting challenges that will require the assistance of the various levels of Government include the threat of gully erosion and the collapse of all the major access roads in the community as well as the internal roads. We do hope that the celebration of the 16th Anniversary of our Traditional Ruler, Eze C C Nkpado, Duruanosike 111, this 30th day of December 2014, will lead to the resolution of the infrastructural changes.Long live Eze CC Nkpado!Long Live Umuzike Community!!
