The train station is one of the most innovative developments in 2021. I took the train ride to and fro Ibadan and I’m glad to say it was an awesome experience. The speed of the train is quite slow but we’ve been assured the speed would be increased over time hereby reducing travel time to an hour or less. The train works everyday of the week so you are covered. Ride costs N2,500. The schedule goes thus;Sunday to Thursday- 8am and 4pmFriday- 8am, 12pm and 4pmSaturday- 8:30am, 1pm and 6pm.Punctuality is very important. I can’t stress this enough.

What a stunning environment, the new Lagos Ibadan rail station is dope and my ride to Ibadan was stress free. If you’re willing to travel safe and fast, boycotting all the Lagos-Ibadan express way traffic, I think you need to consider traveling by rail. Fully air conditioned, infact you need a jacket if you’re the type that can’t cope with cold, Well it was worth my #2600 for the standard class, I did enjoyed my trip.

But from peoples comment its ok, but can be improved on.Well here are the pictures I snapped, hope you find them useful.

Very modern train station. Passenger drop-off could be improved. Tickets can only be purchased at the day of departure and in cash - this can be improved. The train is nice but still going at very slow pace. Hopefully this will change in the future.Generally a good investment into Nigeria - Hopefully it wont be run down by mad management and missing maintenance.

The station has not been completed but it’s functional. The ticketing booth is easy to locate however, there is need for an automated payment system. Not all toilets are functional yet, and the waiting hall needs to be properly illuminated. The security at the entrance needs to also be paid attention to.Take note, there are escalators in place but weren’t functional as at 01/08/2021.

Beautiful facility. However, I sincerely hope it stands the test of TIME owing to poor maintenance culture.Tips to note if it’s your first time joining the train:1. Have your nose mask 😷2. Have your means of ID to present @ the ticket booth & most importantly withdraw cash for ticket payment (quite absurd there’s no alternate payment method. HOPE THE CASH ARE DAILY REMITTED??? 😒😒😒)3. Do well to arrive at the train station latest 15 minutes prior to departure time. (Interestingly, no “African Time” to & fro my trip)3. Have your cardigan/sweater handy, the train has good AC

Newly built train stations are with modern facilities and structure, Mobolaji Johnson Train Station is not an exception.I like the structure and the location. I can easily order ride as against Ibadan Train Station where bolt drivers will turn you offline to charge higher. This train station only service Lagos to Ibadan and vice versa. You can buy ticket only at the station and only by cash. It is advised you hold your money. Finding change can be difficult some time. There are still some construction work going on as at the time of this report. The stores at the facilities are empty but will bring more economic value to the train station once occupied.

I didnt get the chance to experience being on the train 😕 😪 because the tickets were sold out whilst still on the queue. You cannot buy the tickets ahead of your trip so get there super early, like 90 mins before your trip. We got in about 50 mins ahead and still didnt get a ticket. It could also be because it was a Saturday - weekend.I was really looking forward to it.You also pay cash so hold your cash. The environs looked quiet and neat, with great parking.Till I get on the train... heres my 2 cents.

Nice moment with nice people inside the train. The movement was timely and no delay from anyone both the passenger and the driver. I observe it jerk at some point in time when its approaching a terminal to drop off and pick some passengers. Travelling via this network is slow but interesting. The air Conditional is dope. My seat mate complained of hunger when it got to a point during the trip he asked if he could get something to eat. I saw some secondary people who were in the train for a trip. Lucky them. Now we have 3trips on Friday and Saturday

First time travelling by train in Nigeria and its wasnt a bad experience. Train left on time and the NRC officials were courteous and helpful. They could work on providing other options for payment, though Currently its only cash. Clean platform. A lift was available to take passengers to the platform, as well as an escalator. Hope this is sustained.

I must admit, I got on this train because it’s still new and yes, the cabins are still spick and span, the facilities are still new and well cared for, there are about mini kitchenettes, which are equipped with dispenser, microwave and coffee makers. They even provided disposable cups for water from the dispenser, and have cleaners on board (really don’t know how long that’ll last). What you read about the train being freezing is trueeee, layer up right. The Lagos station is still new with functional amenities, the Ibadan station is still a work in progress but looks like it’ll be completed soon. The train runs only twice a day with a stop at Abeokuta, about 45 to an hour then on to Ibadan 2 to two and a half hours. We were told it’ll run more hours later on and the train would go faster. I hope they maintain this rail system because it alleviates a lot of the road traffic.

The new train station is a work in progress and if properly maintained will stand the test of time. However, the security of the passengers should be taken into consideration most especially for travellers inbound Lagos at night. Several people were allowed in to disguise as cabby without proper monitoring. There was just 1 security guard personnel moving around to see things were in order. The lighting at the parking lots were adequate enough for travellers to see what was happening there. The ingress and egress point were not manned, no personnel to check if the cars are not coming in with contraband and also to confirm that an item(s) belonging to NRC has been moved out.The station is first point of departure and also the last point of arrival for travellers outbound and inbound Lagos respectively.

I had such an amazing experience. I was traveling with my friends to Ibadan from Lagos Ebutte Meta.Price/TicketsSo the prices are affordable.Business Ticket 4,000Standard Ticket 2,500At the time VIP tickets hadn’t began. The only down side to this is the lack of online payment. If they get that right then it’ll be flawless. Don’t forget to take a form of Identification cos you’ll be needing it.BoardingI love the view from the Ticket booking to the waiting area. Absolutely beautiful, clearly some parts are still being worked on, we booked an 8.30am ticket to Ibadan. At 8.00am we were asked to move into the Train. Meanwhile at exactly 8.30am the train took off, nothing like African time folks. If you’re late you’ve missed the train! Personally that was my favorite part. They were so time conscious.StaffThey were all professional, from the booking officer, security personnel, service attendants, they all did their best to make costumers comfortable and they communicated all we needed properly.TrainWord of caution if you’re looking for something fast, the train isn’t for you lol. Lagos to Ibadan takes 2hours 30mins, this includes one stop at Abeokuta Train Station. So we got to Ibadan 11.04am. The internal part of the train was neat and eye catching, the seats are comfortable and there’s a charging spot on each row. And I don’t understand why they have a movie playing on tv with no sound??? There is a toilet on the train too and it’s neat btw. Also the parking lot is wide.

Still being constructed. You come in through the old station which I liked because its got history and has the colonial architecture that makes up most of the railway compound. The walk to the new terminal is a long one walking on granite and I tripped a couple of times so its not very safe. The new terminal is not functional yet and I guess we will see how time treats it

Ive traveled across Nigeria using unmarked, unnamed (and therefore very risky) buses, famous private transport, by air, and now by train, and the train is instantly a superior experience, in my opinion. For context, I recently took a trip from Lagos state to Ibadan, and back. I paid for the business class seating (cost N4,000 each time). The station was spacious, clean, and the staff were polite and professional, for the most part.If I had to give feedback, itd be on what I think is an easy to fix, yet major inconvenience: youre assigned your sitting by coach number, but theres no clear way to know this (a ticket that says C2-43 means seat 43, coach 2, but thats not immediately obvious), and when you get to the train, the coaches arent marked in any visible form, so you have to ask different people, while traversing at least half the train the entire time. Even the staff get confused, because one of them misled me while I asked where I was supposed to go.Finally, because the ticket numbers are written by hand, there is the recurrent issue where two people are assigned the same seat (either by mischief, to sell the same ticket twice, or by negligence). Its uncomfortable for those passengers, so this needs to be digitized, or at least handled more conscientiously in the meantime.Still, a pleasurable experience. I hope it stays maintained at high quality levels. A remarkable transport experience Id love to see replicated across the entire country.

The AC inside the train is so chilling that if you didnt dress for it you will catch cold, you get to charge your phone on the train and if you are a lover of picture the whole environment is for photoshoots, you need any means of identification to purchase your tickets at the counter ,The Economy class ticket is #2500 ,business class is #5000 while first class is #6000,but if you are joining from Abeokuta to Ibadan the fare is #2000.Once the train leaves lagos ,the next stop is at AProf Wole Soyinka station, Abeokuta which is not more than 10mins .and the last stop is at Ibadan .The schedule of the train it leaves Ibadan at 8:00am and arrives at lagos at approximately 11:00am while the train leaves lagos at 4:00pm and arrives Ibadan at approximately 7:00pm.

The station building where you buy tickets currently is the old building and as such, there are inefficiencies which are associated with the spacing available to procure tickets. This is exacerbated by the fact that tickets are sold just an hour and a half before each ride - no online purchases, no buying ahead of time (of course you can expect some backdoor dealings). Then, the walk to boarding is also a little problematic because you have to climb over train tracks to access the train (the old building again). However, when you get on the train, you tend to forget all of that - the comfort of the first class down to standard coaches is just really worth it. Coupled with the fact that the trains leave on time, arrive on time and avoid the problems on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. All in all, exciting times ahead...

This Mobolaji Johnson Train Station at Alagomeji is a place everyone in Nigeria should experience and travels with. From this station you can actually travel to Abeokuta Ogun State, Oyo State and Molarere Moniya Ibadan in Akinyẹle Local Government Area is the last stop. By traveling with this train, you will have to get there to collect ticket number then bookings start by 1:30pm and for calling of the ticket numbers given to passengers. This place is awesome, amazing and serene and its actually more like an airport. The current departure time here is 4pm but you should have been here at least an hour and thirty minutes so that once your ticket number has been called then youd be available for the booking. There are facilities for Nurse Duties here, toilets are here too, a modern lift is here too, shops are here also though they are yet to commence operations. Its my first time traveling by train in Nigeria and i am glad I could experience it with this modern train transportation. I believe by the time this train station started operations at full force then it would be more interesting and loving.
