Parking is by the side of the road but I do believe there is a paid parking spot nearby. During the rainy season, this market is heavily affected by flooding, so be sure to wear your Wellington boots. This market is located close to the lagoon, so fish produce is fresh and readily available. One has to be skilled in the art of price haggling in order to get the best bargains. Its one of the central markets in Lagos Island, so quite a wide variety of food stuffs are available here.
Today, for World Polio Day, in anticipation of Nigeria being declared polio-free in a few months, we had a polio awareness reach out.Through this, we engaged 2 secondary schools in Lagos Island, and successfully reached a combined total of 700 students, making them aware of polio and how they can contribute to the collective struggle of making Nigeria polio-free.Thanks to my Rotary Club of Lagos Island for the initiative, and to the sponsors of refreshments for all the students.
A popular Lagos based local market situated on the island. Known for its trades of local food and farm products. Its a place you will love to go and raw butchered meats and soup items.
Sura Shopping complex is quite easy to locate. Once you turn into the Simpson Exit you take the first turning by your left into the complex. There are varieties of shops there depending on what youre looking for. I went in search of a Print / Garment production company.Parking is available but you pay 200 per hour.I was in a hurry so I didnt get to take pictures but Id do so next time.
My for the faint hearted. There is a good Lagos vibe about the area, however, if you look just underneath the surface you would see the thugs and touts lurking in the shadows. Not the safest place for a newbie tho Lagos streets, and I would recommend you go with a guide or have someone you know meet you there. I hear it is pretty okay in the day time, but as soon as the light fades...I would leave that to your imagination
Chaotic from outside but was a life saver when I needed cold drinks on a night walk around Lagos Island. Market stays open late (it was 7pm) and there is a wide variety on sale in the different stalls.Looks muddy inside so wear appropriate footwear. You will get bumped since there are so many people going in and out and the passages are narrow, dress appropriately
It was a reasonably well organised market structure better than most in the State. You wont get a wide variety of items to buy here as youll only get certain specialised shops that cater to tailors, mechanics and such. So before heading to the Market, you need to be sure youll get what youre looking for. You might be better off using the facilities as a car park while you hail motorcycles or tricycles to get you to the Lagos Island Market hub thats nearby. The car parking fees are not too bad and youre sure youre car is safe.
One of the best market on Lagos Island. You will find all you household items there
It has shops/office spaces that seems expedient for start-ups. Located near the central business district(CBD) of Lagos, yet affordable.
You get most local food ingredients in this market. The major challenge is parking. You will have to park on the road and this causes obstruction and traffic.
Always busy market, offering animal & vegetable farming products. Watch out with bargaining - youve got to be street-wise so items you intend to buy are not overpriced!
Yeah if it was the then sura market then you could pretty much get anything you wanted cheaply or affordable but now thats its been under construction for a while now it has pretty much lost all its old Glory
Food items are fairly cheap and you get could what you need in terms of foodstuffs. Easy access to transportation.
The market is easy to navigate, well arranged and sectioned but it can be messy during the rainy season. Also, it has a new ultra modern version just opposite it, on the other side of the road.
Sura market is were you buy everything you need without stress, they have an amble packing space with security in addition your not change for packing all you need to do is walk in to buy all your Groceries.dried fish/ fresh fish, dried crayfish/fresh crayfish, beef /goat meat, chicken hard and soft, fresh tomatoes/pepper, yams/Irish potatoes, local potatoes, all types of cooking oils, all types of rice both whole sale and retails etc..... all at a very very affordable price.Happy shopping!!!
Great place to get foodstuffs. I would suggest that after getting what you think is the best deal, you get the phone number of the store owner for ease of access. There are also ATMs nearby for those who overspent their budget or are low on cash.
Sura market is a 2 sided market. One side is the Sura shopping complex, a very modern and upscale market. It has several sized shops, warehouses and office spaces sold and rented out as well with adequate parking, sidewalks and adequate lighting.Sura shopping complex is also the head office of quite a number of high profile caterers on the Island and a sizable number of other businesses. The other side is a more local market-like venue with foodstuff wholesalers, retailers and vendors. The Sura market on both sides is a major market for customers from Ikoyi, Victoria Island and environs because of the entrance and exit off the third mainland bridge through the Sura exit which makes it easy for customers from that axis to use the Osborne Foreshore and Alfred Rewane Road links.
Sura Market is easy to locate no matter where youre coming from either from Mainland or Island. You can get any forms of perishable and imperishable products. The market is not usually tidy when it rains.
Sura Market is very popular and historic on Simpson Street , Lagos Island. This market sells diverse kinds of fruits in wholesales. A lot of Hausa Traders sell in this market.Sura Market is very close to the High Court of Lagos State, Igbosere.
The market women and men under the auspices of their association can clean up the drainage and severely punish those that have converted the drainage system to a dumpsite. When the drainage is properly cleaned and free-flowing, it will cause the flooding situation to improve considerably when it rains. Market women should be more disciplined and restrict their wares to designated shops.
Wonderful place to be and buy all the things you need for house
Strategically located. The market has several entry point, a place where you can find all you need to shop for locally and internationally. The only challenge you might have is in navigating the streets as its mostly made up of one ways which means traffic gridlock could occur without notice.
You can literally get anything you are looking for here but the place is dirty and total filling station can do better by maintaining their drainage
Its a good place to get bags of rice, smoked fish and Palm oil arguably cheaper than anywhere else on the island. Other than that, its a moderately sized market with groceries here and there.
Its a nice market where you can buy different things
It’s a market that houses grocery shops and offices . Opposite the market there is good smoked fish sellers there .
Local market for groceries. Be prepare to haggle with the traders. This could be lots of fun.
Market with anything fresh you need to make your soup and meal, also with fruits. All so fresh and cheap.
I loved the fish in this market. And very affordable
A modern market clean but i feel its not for low income earners
A mordern market, and also a good place to locate your office
Good place to shop for household items and foodstuffs. Although not all will like it cos of d environment and lack of parking, but if you shop there, you would get lots of good stuff for low prices, trust me 😉
Good open market close to Ikoyi. Its clean and organized but parking might a problem around rush hour. Its a convenient place for me to shop!
Cool place to shop. A one stop shopping plaza. Plenty of parking space.
Good place to find things quick when on the part sland
Best community market place for both raw food and confectionery stuff.
Fine and accessible market especially for customers from Ikoyi.
Its pretty much your typical Nigerian market.
The bus top and turning point close to the main entrance of sura shopping complex usually cause a lot of traffic to people going out of Lagos island. The bus to need to be recreated and the turning point needed to be re located. Bus stop and turning point can not be at the same spot. Thank you
The market arrangement is good. One can easily navigate around the market
Great for local food shopping. You will have to pay to park. There is a shopping complex across the road from the market.
Its a really good market located in Lagos island and easily found
Sura market is a good market for foods stuff and other household items. Sura also have a complex where clothing and few house appliances can be purchased at a go.
A nice market to visit once you are on the Lagos island
A well planned shopping mall but you surely may not get all you want to buy
Fine market running all through Simpson Street and through the intersection of Lewis Street. A lot of food items for purchase. Meat, fish, tomatoes, pepper, etcetera. Plastics, utensils, appliances and tools are also for sale.
Dont know there but google map helped me locate the place so easily
One of the major market in lagos island. Whatever you find there you will get
Good parking spaces, although you have to pay after 30 minutes. Good security.
Well situated market on the Island just way into third mainland bridge. And its a hub for so many items and Business activities.
I love this place because of cowleg (brokoto).. i sometimes drive around jst to buy the meat
Clear market..well laid out
Youre sure to get healthy looking food stuff here
It took me minutes to find a good place to eat. I had to walk for a while before getting a place to eat ..close to 12 basket ..You’ll mostly find shops here.
When coming to this market, please dont come in your red carpet dress or cloth...lol. As much as you will get most of the things you need ranging from food stuffs to provisions, Christmas hampers, meat fish, its also a place to find tailors too. And please peradventure you re hungry DONT EAT HERE the hygiene of this market is Zero, as there are dirty gutters everywhere even beside some food sellers. Also note that there is no parking space, so if you re driving there just find a place to hang your car, of course as your own risk.
Good place to buy necessary food stuff but the arrangements and parking space is not all that okay.
You can get almost all food items, and they are relatively cheap/affordable
Almost like a one-stop shopping arena. Absence of markings and directions. You constantly have to ask security men and passers-by for directions.
Youll get fresh food items, may be a little pricey, but youll enjoy them
Dirty. But a lot of bargain. You can get good smoked fish and prawns at good price. Food stuff in general are cheaper at the market.
Sura market is a wonderful market to buy food stuffs.
Popular for its fresh produce and catering majorly to the affluent neighborhoods of Okoyo close-by and commuters header to the 3rd mainland bridge corridor
Loaded market with all types of local foods and fruits everyday.Sure place film raw foods and well organized.
Cool environment and well laid out shops
Nice place to shop, cheap and quality items
Its market that supply people all various kind of food stuff and they are so loyal to customers
Neat rows of shops. Great mechanic workshop. Ask for Ismaila - mechanic.
Sura market is a very nice place and deferent people come here to buy food items and some other things. There is a very open place to pack cars and all that.
Like every other market in Lagos, this supposedly market is in need of a true market status. I am at a loss for the right words to describe this market. It reeks of filth which are the hallmarks of most Lagos markets. Me wonder what the taxes collected from these markets is used for?Which way Nigeria?
Two sides of sura market. Right and left but will give you wonderful shopping experience and the best area In Lagos to your small chops
Nice places to get perishable and food stuffs
The market arrangement is very good and you can also locate easily
Awesome! Small chops, Tailors, Gift items, Finance offices and lots more
A local market, bigger than the nearby Sandgrouse market. It is mainly a food stuff market for both perishable and nonperishable items.
The heart of Lagos Island, offering flexible market structure, good access road and perfect link to connect to Lagos mainland.
Sura market during the word clean up day by Green hub in conjunction with Lasepa , bolt, lastma, Lagos state environmental sanitation, Jci, United Nations, Nigeria police force and so on
Friendly way to buy stuff. Fresh vegetables. If they dont have it you can order and theyll call you when its available.
Great plug for fresh food.
Sura offers quick access to grocery for local Nigerian dishes and salads.
A very serene place neat and good place for office, because in sura they have 24 hours light, because of IPP plant in the complex.
Correct place to buy food stuff And other things...
It has a by pass that can connect and reconnect one back should you missed your way. There is a road safety Corp Office at same spot and a large local market at the back of the large bridges. And vehicle mechanics have Offices there. Thats my wife car been fixed by one of the local mechanic
This market, along with other markets in Lagos Island, needs to be remodelled in a way that hygiene can easily be maintained
The original market has been demolished and the traders are now loitering all around the place in makeshift shops by the roadside. The intention of the outgoing government to upgrade the place into a modern shopping mall has been stalled by the ouster of Gov Ambode in the State political party primaries where he lost to his rival & incoming governor Babajide Sanwo Olu.Lets just hope that the incoming administration will complete the on going projects left uncompleted by his predecessor.
Very organized complex. Easy to locate
Lovely friendly market . Very helpful community shows the spirit of Lagos
Its a nice place.....price of goods and services at sura market is affordable
The market has been upgraded and its more organised
Its a great market where all shopping are done in whole sales
It is easily accessible because it is close to the road, and has lost of farm produce at a good price.
Well pave roads(inside the market), understandable parking billing system (youll pay for parking only if you exceed one hour in the market). The shops resembles too much, so shop number matters
Love it, u will get all ur house hold here
The lagos island council should please clear up the debris and cover up those drainages on both sides of the road. Quite a poor site to behold especially after the rains
Sura shopping complex is a great place to shop and do other business transaction.
Is also a place where you can get fresh vegetables and other food stuffs to buy, its in the island close to dolphin estate.
