Nice little quaint place right after the ATM machine by the entrance of Park View (do a right turn into the building) Loads of local content, Lagos inspired drawings and games like monopoly and puzzles. There were sculptures and fabric as well. A great spread of books by Nigerian and other African authors. I think its a great place to buy gifts for my “oyibo” friends and colleagues. Caution; it seems a bit pricier than what Im used to for items like these but their pieces seemed unique.

What I like about this shop is that 10% of the proceeds go to help disadvantaged children. The shop has everything you need for gifts; from books by Nigerian authors, clothes, paintings, jewellery, oils, knick-knacks... everyone is very helpful and that really makes the experience worthwhile.

Quintessence is such a nice art shop located inside the Parkview Estate. It is beside the main gate on your right (driving in). Located within the shoping complex. There lots of books, arts, crafts, sculptures, paintings, fabrics, cloths, jewelries and other collectibles in the shop. It was a bit busy when we visited. People purchasing items and children scanning books.Items here are so lovely and affordable especially the fabric crafts. We took a tour of the facility especially the art collection upstairs. Some artiste were having open discussion in the sitting area. The shop also have a reading or seating corner with sofa and cyber café.♿theres no dedicated parking, ramp nor sign for people with disabilities. This could be looked into to make it more inclusive.

Quintessence is an outfit we have been running to promote and develop African arts and crafts and create enabling environment for local content. More than three decades later, Quintessence is still the most exclusive department store and gallery, with a wide range of authentic arts, crafts, textiles and furnishing. Our collection is as a result of experience, fieldwork and research. Prominent in our stock are textiles of all kinds and they include woven fabrics like aso-oke, cloth from okene and akwete and other fabrics from Nigeria and other countries with long traditional history in Africa. These are sold to encourage the local artisans. Craft works, gift items from artisans, paintings and sculptural pieces by our College graduates are also sold. Jewelleries, books, toys, bags, ceramics and other traditional sculptures are products you can also find with us.Since 1988, we have offered visual artists the opportunities of promoting their works through organising exhibitions and fashion shows in our gallery. It has been quite rewarding and artists are encouraged to develop their creative abilities. We were the first private company to organise an exhibition of Nigerian arts and crafts in Nigeria. The company has also organised international exhibitions of Nigerian arts and crafts in Sweden, England, Germany, Zimbabwe, Ghana and Burkina Faso and they were all successful and inspiring. In addition to all these, we are engaged in the production of clothing for children and adults and home furnishings, like placemats, throw pillows and duvets for both local and international markets Chief Mrs Aina Oni-Okpaku a textile expert, has been the guiding force with the support of a highly discipline management. Our well-trained staff, offer excellent personalised services, and currently, Quintessence is involved in an exchange programme between Swedish textile designers and our weavers in the south-western part of Nigeria..
