A nice environment to live in

Quite astonishing...

Unigate hostel is a generally fair hostel. It is just a few steps away from University of Ilorins school gate. In it, are about 72 self contained apartments and a few mini flats. It is built in such a way as a standard social housing set up.Each of the self contained apartments costs 185K Naira. There are no extra or hidden costs. The agency fee is included.The good stuff1. Each of the rooms is very big and spacious. Since they are newly built, you might have the additional comfort of a newly built hostel.2. The rooms are neatly tiled. The bathroom and kitchen are also tiled. This makes the whole apartment very convenient.3. The compound is very spacious and neat. It is also maintained by cleaners who come occasionally to tidy the compound (not the corridors, which I think is a bad idea because it might become a messy place sooner than later).4. The proximity to school is a good one. It is therefore easier to get into the University in good time. However, transportation might be a problem in the morning as cabs are filled up right from Oke Odo, Tanke (this is the nearest major bus park for students)The bad (and ugly stuff)1. The management of Unigate hostel is a big challenge, very poor indeed. People who have been in the hostel for as long as March, 2019 still havent gotten their receipt of payment. That, to me doesnt look too good.2. The power supply in town is unpredictable. The proximity to the school would have given anyone the assumption that they would be using the schools power supply. This is not the case. In fact, the hostel shares its fence with Unilorins fuel station who uses the schools power supply which is almost 24/7.Also due to the poor management system of Unigate hostel, as stated earlier, electric power supply is worsened. This is because even the meter is not regularly recharged. The money is exhausted and for more then 48 hours, people are asking why surrounding hostels have electricity and Unigate hostel, as expensive as it is, doesnt.3. It doesnt come with the following like the other hostels:I. FanII. BedIII. Generator (remember the power supply is unpredictable and the meter isnt recharged as soon as the money is exhausted).I would give it a 2/5 rating as many things still need to take shape it the hostel is to be justified of the yearly rent.
