Coca-Cola’s Voltic Ghana scales competition with new US$6.5m water plant with KHS Filling ans Packaging Maschines.May 11, 2018 Food Business AfricaGHANA – Voltic Ghana, a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) has built a new water bottling plant worth US$6.5 million at Akwadum with the capacity to produce 24,000 bottles of purified natural water every hour, according to GNA.The new plant exhibits a fully automated packaging line increasing its capacity in the bottled water category.Voltic Ghana produces Voltic Natural Mineral Water brand introduced onto the Ghanaian market in 1995, growing to capture 65% market share within three years and currently holds more than 75% Market Share, according to their website.The new plant brings its total investment in the country over the last five years, to US$26 million with plans to grow the company’s investment not only in Ghana but also in the continent.Country Sales and Marketing Manager, Raymond Mensah Gbetivi said the company plans to expand its franchising to rural areas, which currently accounted for 25% of total sales.The additional franchises will add to its already 55 sachet water franchises to water producing companies and will enable locals to produce and sell ‘Cool pack’ sachet water with the goal of accelerating growth for local investors.Voltic Ghana seeks to maintain market leadership in Ghana, adding new alcoholic and non-alcoholic brands to its original franchise with CCBA.This follows a partnership with Campari Group, the global branded beverage industry for its spirits portfolio even as it embarks on expanding their portfolio for spirits and juices.Mensah said with Campari, they are poised to offer customers products beyond water and soft sparkling drinks and tied in with Coca-Cola’s global goal of becoming a total beverage company.The company has also gone a mile further to deliver on its corporate and sustainability goals, empowering women in the value chain to adopt best business management practices, according to Sustainability and Community Affairs Manager, Joyce Ahiadorme.It has two production plants located in Medie and Akwadum and is in charge of sales and distribution of club minerals and Betamalt throughout Ghana.
