I was at the Bamboo lounge. The place is cozy though the music was very loud. So for those who want to hang out and gust, it is a good place to do that. Drunks are quite affordable and they serve food as well.

The room needs to be aired more during the rainy season and you might have mosquito challenge. However, the staff are incredibly nice and eager to help.

Transcorp Hotels Calabar offers four-star hospitality in the serene ambience of the Canaan City.The location is central and at the heart of the town on the eponymous Murtala Muhammed Drive that connects several parts of the city.Opposite the hotel and a little to the right is the Governors Office and further are the State Secretariat, the famous Hope Waddel Training Institute and much that defines the city. Beyond Hope Waddel is the jetty. It was the take off point for the slave trade for which Calabar became notorious. HMy suite is well appointed with standard features. Service is friendly.Food at The Slessor Restaurant was standard fare. It lacked adventure.

A nice hotel, needs a little bit of dusting up here and there but overall, it’s okay. Food here is decent, internet works, hot water runs.

Its quite big, it has a charlet at the back side. The food is yummy but the etiquette around the breakfast buffet is very very poor.Its affordable not cheap and centrally located at calabar municipality.The rooms are quite big and comfortable, room service is quite fast.You can be assured that youll eat everything fresh, cos theyre all freshly made just order early enough 😉

My stay was great.. Very very good place, wonderful staff, good atmosphere and professional. The two issues I had was the food was abysmal and the hotel is pretty lax on the covid19 guidelines. Some of their staff, even the ones handling foods werent wearing masks. I thought of only giving them a 3-star rating because this last issue is a big deal, but the service otherwise was really good so Ill leave it at 4.Please Transcorp, if youre reading this. Do something about these issues.Thank you.Oh and sorry I messed up the room pretty good before remembering to take pictures.. Lol

Great ambience, friendly and professional staff. Fumigation of the charlets should be done more often, there were lots of ants and mosquitoes in the room. I enjoyed my stay!

Its a very good place to stay

Service was slow and the hotel looking a little run down. Expected more from Transcorp as it one of the oldest hotels in Calabar. The staff ate friendly though.

Staff are very cordial and helpful. Doesnt look as aesthetic as one would expect on the outside, the facilities in the room however are nice and well maintained. Ensure you check the website for the right room rates before visiting else you may pay a lot more.

Transcorp Hotel is the numero uno in Cross River State of Nigeria. It was formerly known as Metropolitan Hotel when it was opened in the mid-1970s. It has virtually all the qualities of a first class hotel. It occupies a prime location in the city. It serves both continental and African dishes and has a great range of both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. The environment is free from noise pollution and is very accessible and clean. The night club is of global standard but is not currently in use because of COVID-19 scare. Its gym is also idle for the same reason. The staff is of international quality. It is a place like no other in Calabar, the capital of of Cross River State. However, the entrance to the property could be made safer by having say two low speed breakers before the gate. It is long overdue.

Dont judge this book by the cover. Not the best of external architecture on the outside by the very warmest of reception and hospitality you can get in Calabar. Good food too, though with some strict (unnecessary) rules. I recommend!

It was a nice and serene environment

Nice and cool environment. There is an ATM machine and business centre on site. I like their sunday brunch buffet which goes for 6k per person. Affordable room rates. You can get good discount if you book with Hotels.ng

The pearl ball hall is a catchy feature. Loved the inner environment... I think the outside environment should be improved on. Plus the security

Its the best hotel in Calabar metropolis

Well... I have mixed feelings about the reception because it seemed a bit cold up until they realized we could pay, then it got warm. But thankfully there were rooms since there was no carnival in Calabar.Room was okay-- bed a bit low but deliciously comfortable. Room service was late but apologetic on more than 3 occasions.The Rice and stew was a no no. But the swallows were amazing and very filling.I couldnt get my preferred choice of red wine either and I wasnt about to pay N9,000 for a bottle of red I wasnt familiar with.Location is on point because its centered and about 5-7mins away from the airport.The live band was lit as well though it had to end before 10pm because of the curfew.All in all, nice ambience, but the service can be improved.But I enjoyed my stay!

Cozy and serene environment

My most disappointing hotel experience in Nigeria. Overly priced for the delivered value. Worst part is it was old, dirty, and below standard for the Transcorp name. The pictures speak for itself.

Its a very decent place to lodge,its very secured and it has a very nice outlook. Its also has a meeting hall for business men,cooperate body and government officials. But its quite expensive

Maintenance could be better. Given the reputation of the Transcorp brand, I expected a lot more. The room were neat but after a day or two I noticed damp. It was everywhere. The beds were lumpy and I developed an ache that stayed with me till I left. The service staff were polite and willing to help. This is why I gave them a passable rating.The physical state of the rooms were functional to begin with but in closer inspection, I noticed evidence of mould being painted over and not treated. Having lived in Calabar, I know this is a prevalent problem but it is expected that the towns flagship hotel should be able to identify and treat this issue.The food was good but a bit too spicy on occasion. They never had fresh bread for the 6 days I stayed there. The bread was constantly overlooked at the breakfast table.Transcorp is supposed to be one of the best Calabar has to offer. It is difficult making a strong recommendation for the hotel. It serves its purpose - just barely.

Nice Hotel... basically the best in Calabar but complacency is creeping in. A situation where the hotel ceiling is leaking water during rains is completely unacceptable.
