This local government comprises majorly, two ethnicity all in river state. The two ethnic groups are Ekpeye and Engenni..although the ogbogolo people speak quite differently from Ekpeye but similarly to Engenni, its mixed with agbia language.. Ahoada west is said to be the most peaceful LGA in the state... Its headquarters is at akinima.. It has a commercial city known as mbiama along Eastwest road.which actually shares boundaries with bayelsa state...
