St. Bernadettes Nursery and Primary School was officially established in January, 1954 by Late Rev. Sr. Dunstan ODriscoll, OLA - an Irish Reverend Sister of the Our Lady of Apostles Congregation. The School, which started as a convent school, was formally approved by the then Western Regional Ministry of Education and moved to its permanent site at Ibara - A ten acre land.The dream of the founder was to give a lasting and enduring education to young boys and girls as well as transmission of moral and spiritual values and develop well integrated individuals. Though it started with forty-five pupils and three members of staff running the boarding and day classes, today, after fifty-five years, the school has a population of about two thousand pupils and one hundred and twenty teaching and non-teaching staff.In order to meet up with the challenges of modern day Nursery and Primary School, St. Bernadettes School offers a wide range of primary school subjects in a serene environment. The facilities of the school include: well ventilated and spacious classrooms, well equipped computer ans Information Communication Technology (ICT) department, well stocked library and a multipurpose sports field.The school is managed by seasoned and experienced management under the Proprietorship of His Lordship - Most Rev. Dr. Peter Olukayode Odetoyinbo, a Diocesan Schools Board and Administrator - Very Rev. Fr. Patrick Oke. The Head teachers have been Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles who have seasoned and experienced personnel; Sr. Kathleen ORegan (Supervisor 1984-1985), Sr. Henrietta Power (Headmistress 1985-1997), Sr. Beatrice Okoye of Blessed Memory (Headmistress (1999-2004), Sr. Gladys Osagie (Headmistress 2004-2008),Sr. Alice Chifong (Headmistress 2008-2014). The current Head teacher is Sr. Veronica Ifeyinwa Onyeanisi,OLA.
