Alakes Palace gave me joy. There was a sense of pride I felt just by being there, the rich cultural presence was potent, very hard to miss though Im not from Abeokuta I felt like I belonged there, it reminded me so much of my home town, Esie, especially the artifacts beautifully assembled made me feel at home.

The egbaland palace ground was cool and quiet but the museum was under construction when I visited. Its free to enter the main gate and take pictures around but no entry at the main palace gate except on appointment. The roads are good and the place has been given a major uplift. It was nice visiting here.

Alakes palace rejuvenation and generality of developments in Abeokuta,as the state capital, are pointers to the fulfillment of the age long Ifa oracle prediction that with the enthronement of the 10th Alake, Egbaland will witness a phenomenal growth/development. This is exactly the case now. God is wonderful

The museum is still under construction.... Was told it will be ready by next year after which visitors will be able to see ancient relics in the museum, the ancient garden in the Palace, the old Palace and the idi ère.. The people were very receptive. Youll be able to see the idi ere though when you visit now

We had a rather not so smooth start at the palace as 10 people were sitting at the gate and one took offense that I didnt greet the baba before trying to enter. So after we clarified the issue with the greeting we got some sort of a mini tour of the place. What I love is the sculptural work and the drawings on the walls. This old palace is now being used as a civil court and it is worth a visitBut be sure to greet baba at the gate 😁

Oba of egbalands palace.. You have to hold a gift for the Alake while visiting i.e 2 bottles of schnapps. We were taken around by the Obankie, he attended to us on behalf of the ọba and he told us great stories of the Yoruba tribe and the origin of egbaland.. Its a welcoming environment with lots of arts that showcase the history of Yorubaland
