A local food joint that has become a tourist delight. They serve very delicious meals and offer quick service.
My number one stop for mouth watering, finger licking Amala whenever Im in Abeokuta!
Its been almost 10years that I have been eating at this restaurant and they deliver the best always. If you need a very amazing amala joint in Abeokuta..you should check them out
Food is superb always pulls you backNeeds to modernise access to water to wash handA good architect can redesign the seats to accommodate thisCustomers can also be served on their seatsWhile accommodations can still be made for those that must see everything before deciding what to buy
OMG!The proven best local dish plug Ive ever seen in Abeokuta.Well structured and respects customers preference ✅
Fantastic and good human relations
Hot and fantastic foods. But ventilation needs to be improved
Food is nice. But the canteen needs a little touch in infrastructure
A local abula joint very popular in Abẹ́òkúta in its location behind the stadium at Kuto (a perfect location). The name itself is a Yoruba coined and attracts lots of customers (the rich and the average citizens). The pricing is really fair and the attendants are respectful to a point. The soup is OK but the meat is deep fried. The chairs are arranged in group seating.
A great place to eat on MKO ABIOLA Way in Abeokuta. If you want local swallow food as they are called, this is the place. Their local food is better than Wok City. They don’t have pastries like Wok City, but one would not expect to get pastries in a canteen. The staff are friendly, except the lazy girl who sells water. There is car park for about 12 cars. At the entrance, there is an herbal medicine lady who would greet you warmly. On entering, there is an elderly man who sells musically cds. This canteen probably sits 60-100 people.
The food was fantastic and delicious. A lot of variety of home cooked food. The place was clean and there is a car park.
Nice meal. You cant eat here and not plan to go back
Awesome. Apart from being affordable, it is also rich and healthy
Nice Amala
Nice locally made naija food
Ah yes.Review Time:Location: ExcellentJust off the major MKO Abiola road, but also not directly on the road..Parking space for about 12 vehicles.More can use the street which isnt busy.Ambience: Buka, but upscale for a Buka.Nothing tush, but enough tables and chairs. Will easily sit 80 peopleStandards of cleanliness is just ok enough to not ruin the food. (not spotless clean and not so dirty to affect your appetite)Service: reasonable. A party of 8 got our meal at the table in 10 minutes. Probably less if you walk up to the counter and demand for it.Food:*EXCELLENT*The Abula was spiritual.Amala was premium soft, the gbegiri and ewedu was almost premium Ibadan level. *Almost*The downside was the Ogunfe. It was not tender enough. The dry fish was good.Final Verdict : a Strong *7/10*Definitely worth a try.#AshipaOnTour
Nice place for amala and gbegiri
The place is cool and massive, but they just need do a little upgrade.....
I will sure visit here again whenever I set foot in Abeokuta! Chai!!! The food is simply wonderful!!!!
The amala was all that! Absolutely delicious. Lots of people waiting to order their food. The amala was super delicious and we all enjoyed it.
Is cozy
Surulere food canteen is in Abeokuta, this food canteen is a local food canteen where you can eat variety of local food ranging from amala, eba, semo, iyan and amala dudu e.t.c with also different soup you desire. The environment is okay but they can still do better to have a better environment but for there food its superb.
This place comes highly recommend for indigenous delicacies - one of which is the popular àmàlà with several variations of spicy stews and assorted meat as well as fish too. There is ample parking space for cars right in front of this compact size restaurant. There are no adequate provision for wheelchair accessible entrance though.
What can I say? Just lovely!
Just the right place or bowl of steamy hot amala and a choice of soups and bites to go with.
Surulere Food Canteen is a local restaurant with Yoruba delicacies.

Nice food
Food is awesome! Affordable for all classes. There’s a whole lot of varieties. Customer service delivery too is excellent. It’s basically for the local meals. Environment is conducive enough. Sufficient parking spaces.
Crowded, takes too long for waitress to attend to customers on queue.
Nice food canteen
The right place for your local meal.

Nice Place
Eating the local delicacies in a glam style... this is the best place in Abeokuta
Fantastic place for your Solid local dishes, and Ofada rice
Their food is amazing, the only issue is communicating your order if you are not Yoruba
Best place to get the softest Amala and very nice gbegiri. Other food options are available. But the cooling is a major issue. No power most times to power the fan. No air conditioner. You can imagine eating and sweating.
Where good foods are served hot
Enjoy your local food in a local manner without borders...
Average airfield is better
Great meal

Nice place to eat nice Nigerian local food and soups
The food canteen is located not far from the NNPC mega station in Abeokuta. Local Nigeria dishes such as Amala,Fufu, rice etc are sold in this place. It is a well patronised canteen.
Sweet abd affordable delicious meal
Your visit to Abeokuta in Ogun State would have a complete new experience with a visit to Surulere Food Canteen. Its located along NNPC road just after DLK.There are varieties of swallow from amala to iyan and semo...name it.Assorted meat to accompany your meal makes a great experience. With goat meat of about #600, you are good to go. Pomo is quite big for #100. My last visit was with a friend from Lagos. It was his first time there, our order was simple....abula with ewedu and gbegiri..After eating he had to book a take away package for the wife. Its always an experience to be here. Food tastes good and cheap when compared to some places outside Abeokuta..When next you visit, ensure to stop by and have a fun filled stomach before embarking on your return trip....cheers
Food was piping hot.

Great local food
Great food but dilapidated fixtures.
Good for taking local dishes

The place is too stuffy and food presentation is not appealing.
